Hi ya all well I am just so excited about having my little comment & name in the August 2011 issue of Victorian Homes.
I had wrote the editor of Victorian Homes and commented on Richard's My Old Historic Home's article that was published in the June 2011 Issue. I am sure if you read his blog you seen the tour of his house through the magazine.
Also my friend Christine In Oregon look where all she has been publshed.
well anyway back to what I was going to say I wrote Hillary Black, hblack@beckett.com
the editor and told her how much I was in awe of his fabulous gorgeous house and wanted more. So on page 6 in the August 2011 issue another article about his house and his excellent epergnes collection.
Also my little paragraph of what I said , I had never seen my name in any magazine and I have through out the years of have subscriptions to several magazines never been "published" I just think it's so funny because I read and sure you do also several fabulous blogs where ladies show & list where they have been published.
I often write in and give sweet comments . I have wrote prominent people before like President Obama's Grandmother, when was very ill, I just said hoped she recovered from her illness I sent her a get well card and I received a very sweet card and note back from his sister in Hawaii and I have wrote other's like David Bloom's wife , He was an NBC anchor who went to dessert storm and died of blood clots while there. His wife wrote me a letter I still have these (of Course).
OK i have tooted my horn enough so will get on with what I bought at an estate sale yesterday I just had to go, LOL
Click on the picture to make it larger
I have always admired painted furniture and always thought the Hitchcock chairs are beautiful. I found this chair at the estate sale yesterday and very very reasonable priced so here it is in my room with my black chest in my entry way.
This little white chair is same style and I bought a round table and 4 chairs at a yard sale where the people was using the set for the back porch and I was wanting white in my kitchen so , still using it until I find another set I think I just have to have or until this shabby chic phase is over?
I have mixed pieces of furniture in my house , when first married I thought wanted all cherry furniture so had it through out my entire house and have eliminated several pieces and have different style in each room guess you could say. Years ago(back in the day) people had all cherry or Oak or pine through out there house. Thank God it's a new day and we can mix and match LOL
I also stopped at a yard sale Friday morning and found this beautiful lady she is in a very large like poster on heavy paper and I thought I have an old frame I could put her in but she may go to the flea market July 2nd ? I didn't buy her to sell just stopped to think I am trying to quit putting so much in my studio etc
I found this card holder at a resale shop for 50 cents
I decided to rearrange the top of one of my cabinets in the kitchen
before
still love my button flowers and my spools
after I covered up my flat screen TV so it would look so modern LOL
I tried this first
However I ended up with these things on my old white shabby chic dish cabinet
there is one more picture I wanted to share , in the mirror you Can see my red tranferware dishes in my plate rack, click on the picture to make it larger

New Duck & cleaning Silver
I haven't been in our resale shop here for some time maybe 2 months anyway soon as I stepped in I spotted this duck casserole. My Mom had the same duck my youngest sister has it in her kitchen for the time being she is remodeling and discarding all her old kitchen items. I told her I would be up to get a few things I don't want her selling it for a dollar in her yard sale. LOl Like I need more stuff.
Anyway the duck is living here for a while and possibly my Mom's Duck
Sunday after I finished painting the bakers rack and moving it inside I had intentions of cleaning a few silver pieces.
also the baker's rack is in my bedroom and I think I will put all my white ironstone dishes on it also the brown & white transferware
Today while reading a blog and I really forgot which one , one I hadn't read before anyway she was cleaning her silver trays with baking soda and aluminum foil. I thought I am trying that this afternoon after work.
So stopped at the local grocery got my baking soda and here I go.
this is before pictures , oh wait the duck first
before cleaned
this oval covered is silver plate
This is just my cracker container cleaned sitting with the dirty silver to compare. I bought this at an high end estates sale I say that because some estate sales are really yard sales.
This little child's dish is sterling as the three bowls they are marked sterling with other marks on them and was a lot easier to clean than the plated silver guess you could say didn't take as long to soak the tarnish off.
It has a name on it and I didn't even know that till I was cleaning it love the bay cherub face on the handle
Mary Leighton Taylor June 19 ,22 I love monogrammed items
after
they all look so much better I don't care if the new thing is tarnished silver I like mine cleaned
These are the sterling silver bowls very light weight . I have several sterling silver baby cups & spoons also to clean
It all looks so much better this took a little over one hour and I have about 8 more trays to clean, well another day after work I will get to it I need to mow my yard this evening
this is what the cleaning process looked like.
you use very hot water and about 1 cup of this baking soda and put aluminum foil in the container you use and just soak your item about 5 minutes then take it out and start wiping with paper towels. The lady I read about this used old towels . I had one of those aluminum foil pans and it worked great
Here is the new shop I have mentioned before, it is repurposed great things .

It was a good weekend. I had a family reunion with my sisters & families and 2 different sweet cousins came with their husbands. One cousin was my little rich cousin from St Louis and I was a little poor country girl LOl (I thought) Now I know I wasn't I had all my family back then.
Anyway when my rich cousin came my Aunt always brought hand me downs and I loved them. One year Aunt Lou gave me my cousin Easter hat and I had it on in our Christmas pictures LOL I took that picture to show my cousin and her husband
I made a peach and blackberry cobbler like Grandma always made for company
This is first family reunion I had been to since I was about 12 years old
Today after a nap I thought i should put another coat of primer on this bakers rack I am painting to put in the kitchen however after putting it in the kitchen well anyway that is to many things in the kitchen so I am putting it in the bedroom with the wall rack I just painted the bedroom with the round iron bed.
I bought this at an auction a couple summers ago

Another thing I did this afternoon is I took a plate rack off the wall in my TV room , guess my living room really anyway thought I would hang my big sheep painting in there

June Weddings & Old Lace
June has always been the wedding month and my Mom got married in June and other family members have wedding anniversaries this month.( I was a young June bride)
Also I have always loved white and lace and it sure is in style now we all love the old vintage lace. I still want a lace top and have to get me one made before summer is over I am going to use one of my old tablecloths and have said that before but really I am getting it made next week!
this is a project I got done this week and forgot to take a before picture. It was a very ugly pine box
I also painted a rack I bought last summer from a shop going out of business and she used it for wrapping paper and I thought I am using it for my white linens. First of all it was a bright red color so painted it white this week and didn't get a before picture I was just thinking get it done wasn't thinking get pictures for my blog
I painted both with a primer first then a good white paint and didn't sand the corners I like them just white.
This is the wall space in the bedroom with my round iron bed that I am hanging my rack in
I never measure with a ruler or tape I just eye ball where I want it and hang it
Click on picture to see better , there is my Raggedy Ann my Mom bought me when I was grown because I said I had always wanted one when I was little
I added a lace tablecloth to the ends
Back to my little desk thing
This is a little picture I decorated once
I have had these little cardboard tea pots for some time now I think I got them at yard sales
I love this lace on an old pillowcase I have a set
I found an etsy shop on Heather Bullard's blog anyway loved these little initial ribbons so ordered some for my cards I like to make. I believe it was on the Flea Market magazine blog
This script material i bought in Atlanta at Country Living Fair last October
It may be a little messy looking but I love it
